Phase 3 – Seres Centre
LENGUA-LANGUAGE: Spanish
The Seres Centre for Climate Change Education and Sustainable Development is scheduled to be officially opened in August 2012.
The primarily goal of the Seres Centre will be to serve farmers and workers from poor and vulnerable communities im Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Honduras – as these countries are currently facing some of the greatest risks from climatic changes in the region.
There are no minimum education or literacy requirements to attend the Centre: as our programs focus on practical learn-by-doing and traditional teaching methods, the ability to read and write Spanish is not a prerequisite. Students wishing to study in the Resilient Communities program must be nominated and supported by their local community. One of the requirements for entry is that the student and community must enter into an agreement with Seres to support the student to implement a Resilient Communities Adaptation project when they complete their course.
The cost of the Resilient Communities program will range from USD425-USD500. The majority of students will receive partial or full financial scholarships to attend, which will cover accommodation, 3-meals/day, program materials, program fees and transport to/from the Seres Centre at the start and end of the Program.
More details about the Seres Centre, including how to Sponsor a Student, program details, course information, and staff and volunteer vacancies will be uploaded shortly. Please stay tuned!
