Seres has partnered with Haddock Invention, a cleantech innovation firm with a focus on emerging markets, to pilot  a new energy service in several  (shops) in Guatemala from December 2010 through to March 2011.  The service revolves around solar recharged AA batteries, with the dual aim of reducing the cost burden of candles and dry-cell batteries on local communities and eliminating the environmental hazards of conventional one-time use AA batteries.

Pilots are currently being run in three communities where Seres has existing relationships, with great results. The feedback from the communities is positive, and the growth in demand for solar batteries and solar battery appliances is growing. Stay tuned to find out more about the Phase 2 roll-out in March 2011.
