What inspires you to be a positive influence in the world?
Its people, its youth, its history, and its realities. I believe that from the moment we are born and we start a new life, it is for a purpose and I believe that before I die I must fulfill my purpose in life and in this world. We may be insignificant for other people but despite all those differences, we can make a positive change on this earth since we are only here once, but this is one of the most important trips we make in life. After life on this earth, I do not know what lies ahead elsewhere, so meanwhile we can try to accomplish a lot. We must plant a seed that will be born, grow and flourish, but like us will not be eternal but will leave new seeds for a better life for present and future generations. They in turn will also leave a legacy by planting new seeds, because life is a constant act and a struggle that never ends and that depends on each and everyone of us. I know that with constant action and fight we can accomplish many changes with passion, love and energy so that our positive changes remain strong in each of our hearts.
What combination of talents and passion you offer as a Local Ambassador for SERES?
I offer time, energy and passion by creating knowledge to create what we would like our communities to be like at present and prepare the conditions for our future. By being ourselves we can achieve the changes we wish to see in our communities, our towns, our countries and finally in our world because success will only happen if our dreams are bigger than our excuses. Any decisions and actions we make now will make a difference that lasts a long time generating a stable welfare for new and future generations.
What inspires you to invest time and energy as a Local SERES Ambassador?
What inspires me is the confidence of its people and its youth. I am inspired by the dreams and ideas of many, because they believe in what they do and they are sure that they want a change in their communities. Their constant struggle and persistence in achieving things, together with their strength in not giving up. If they fall, they pick themselves up, because this is part of life, a part of us. I remember a phrase saying “that our greatest fear is what we set ourselves”, but that is part of life because if we did not have this quality we would not be human. But the most important thing of all is that we can transform this fear into our greatest strength and believe in ourselves that we have the power to do so, because our limits are sometimes in our mind. We have goals and challenges, and if we believe in ourselves they will transform into realities and experiences in our history, our lives and the lives of many.
If you could change anything from our reality, what would you change and why?
I would change the system if I had the power, starting with the way of thinking of each and every one of us. Our thoughts reflect our actions and what we do may affect us personally or others, either for good or bad. The current system only creates more wealth for some and I remember a story of a trader and a wise old man, in which the trader asked the wise old man for some advice on life and the old wise man without a thought took him to a window of the house which was opposite the park and asked him “what do you see”?. The trader said “people”, then he took him to a mirror and ask him “now what do you see”?, “I see myself “responded the trader. Then the wise old man said “it is true because the mirror has silver in the middle to reflect who we are and while there is silver in the middle you will only see yourself and not others”. Therefore, this is what happens in today’s world, because people with economic power do not see environmental issues and only see potential to get richer. That is why, I would choose to change the system, because by changing the system I would change people and therefore lots of things would change.
